The fuel pump fuse is located in the power distribution box. The power distribution box is located in the engine compartment. The power distribution box contains high power fu ses that protect the car's main electrical components from overloads. The diagram of the fuses and systems they control can be found in the owners manual. On the 2001 Ford Focus the fuel pump is protected with fuse number 12, which is rated for 15A. Always disconnect the battery before working on the power distribution box! Always replace the power distribution box cover before reconnecting the battery!
There is also an emergency fuel pump shut-off switch, that turns off the fuel pump in case of an accident. The switch is located in the kick panel in the passenger side foot-well. The switch can be accessed through the recess in the kick panel. I went to a mechanic shop today (a well-known national car service/repair company) and I had brought it in because my car wouldn't start (but cranked). They said it's because of the Fuel Pump Driver Module (2002 Ford Taurus). They brought me back to the garage and showed me.
It is located on the passenger side, between the back seat of the car and trunk. Again, this is for a 2002 Ford Taurus. It looks like a small black box that has wires going to the inertia switch and most likely the fuel pump. Hope that helps. Must take out back seat (Bolts) and the trunk liner to access (Visible from trunk opening when removed).
On a sedan, the fuel pump driver module is located behind the rear passenger seat. To access it you need to fold down the rear seat backs and remove the four bolts that hold t he seat. Pull the seat out of the way then remove the plastic panel on the passenger side (that the seat bolted through).
You should see the module cable and the two fasteners nuts that hold the module. You should be able to reach in under the interior side trunk panel to get at it (you may wish to remove the truck interior side panel for complete access). If you have a flex fuel Taurus/Sable with a demon-possessed gas gauge, this 'driver module' is likely to be the cheap and easy fix. The thread of conversation linked below even has pictures of where to find the module under the dash. Note: this a module mounted with one bolt behind and to the bottom left of the climate control module which interfaced the sender unit in the gas tank with the dash fuel gauge.

It is a 6 pin rectangular module (5 wires are pinned out on the connector side) encased in epoxy. Ford part # YF1U-14A069AA.

Common Ford Problem A bad fuel pump driver can cause all sorts of other problems, including some that appear to be related to the transmission, such as shaky acceleration around 50mph. Only replace this part with one that has been tested on the proper equipment to verify it works, if you don't want to pay $$$ for a new one, as failure of the unit on used cars is common. Also highly suggest replacing the fuel filter when replacing the pump driver to ensure fuel system, aside from the fuel pump, is operating at peak efficiency.
